Police: Booted UA frat was out of control

TUCSON, Ariz. - A Tucson police investigation concludes that pledges attending a University of Arizona fraternity's ``history night'' were slapped and had to memorize traditions while being yelled at and intimidated.

Sigma Phi Epsilon came under scrutiny several violations of campus policies were reported in the fall semester, many involving alcohol.

Tucson police's investigative report, obtained by the Arizona Daily Star through a public-records request, details 15 hazing incidents that ended with Sigma Phi getting booted from campus for three years.

The police report paints a picture of a fraternity out of control, with pledges getting slapped, kicked and forced to drink beer until they vomited.
