Here's what went down Friday on G&A…

Gambo flew solo for the short show before ASU basketball.

Ugly Sunset…the Suns suffered their third loss of the season Thursday falling to the undermanned Hornets in New Orleans. Gambo thinks it's as simple as the Hornets wanting it more than Alvin Gentry's team. For the first time this young season, the Suns were dominated on the boards and finally lost a game they should have won. John knows the Suns should fear any game on TNT as the club is now 0-16 in games on the network. He also wondered how Amare Stoudemire could only grab two first-half rebounds. Is STAT falling back into his old defensive habits from the past? Gambo knows the Suns won't overlook their next opponent, the Pistons, Sunday night at US Airways Center.

House of Horrors…all eyes (including ESPN's College GameDay) will be on Tucson tomorrow as the UofA Wildcats look to take a step closer to their first Rose Bowl birth against Oregon. Gambo knows Oregon has had their struggles in the Old Pueblo and with Nic Foles playing at a high level, the ‘Cats may be able to get it done again against Chip Kelly's team. John is curious to see if recently reinstated LaGarrett Blount gets any playing time for the Ducks.

We caught up with Cardinals starting tight end Ben Patrick discussed coming back from his four-game suspension to start the season and looked ahead to Sunday's match-up against the 1-8 Rams in St. Louis. He said the Cards coaching staff has stressed starting fast this week in practice after falling behind in the first half last weekend against the Seahawks.

Amare'can Idol?...Amare Stoudemire was not deemed a max-player in Thursday's loss to the Hornets. Our panel of judges voted two against (Gambo, Ash) and one in favor (Burnsy) of Amare being worth the big cash. His record thru the first 13 games stands at 7-6 in favor of the Suns giving him the max dollars.

Our world renowned sports handicapper Brandon Lang joined us to break down all the big matchups in college football and the NFL this weekend.

Outmuscled…the Suns were beat up by Hornets Thursday suffering their third loss of the season. Gambo knows the Suns got exposed on the boards, but still found a way to stick around and almost steal a road win which is encouraging. He feels defense and rebounding will be even more magnified as Gentry's team prepares for a brutal stretch of games in December. John wasn't the least bit impressed with Stoudemire's five-rebound effort in 43 minutes against the Hornets.

Stopping the Run…the Big Red defense has done quite well against the run this season and that's bad news for talented Rams' running back Steven Jackson who has been held without a 100-yard game in eight career outings against the Cards. Gambo believes the Rams will force-feed Jackson in hopes of playing keep away from Kurt Warner and the Cards offense. He's certain this should be a relatively easy win for Ken Whisenhunt's team who is clearly far more talented than the 1-8 Rams.

Our ESPN NFL analyst Mark Schlereth previewed the Cards-Rams game Sunday, looked ahead to the big Chargers-Broncos game in Denver, share his thoughts on JaMarcus Russell being benched in Oakland, and everything else making news around the NFL including Bill Belichick's controversial decision to go for it on fourth down late against the Colts last Sunday night.
