PHOENIX - About 200 families lost millions of dollars worth of household items and family treasures after a fire ravaged a west Phoenix storage facility.

The fire started Thursday afternoon at the Ultimate Movers warehouse which occupies nearly an entire block near 30th Avenue and Indian School Road.

The fire has been out for hours, but it was still smoldering Friday morning.

The massive storage facility is gutted by flames leaving behind charred mattresses, furniture, clothes, dishes, pots and pans, vintage motorcycles, grand pianos and something that is very valuable to someone, a photobook of pictures from the 19040s and 1950s.

Investigators now begin the work of trying to pinpoint the cause.

all the local news stations are reporting the fire started by workers smoking ciggies outside the building and tossing the butts on the ground next to a lot of paper trash how sad is that a few careless nicotine freaks just ruined a lot of peoples lifes by destroying their items in storage while they moved to a new city
