PHOENIX -- Sen. John McCain expressed confidence he will win a fifth term as he dropped off his primary election ballot at a polling place in uptown Phoenix Tuesday morning.
McCain, accompanied by his wife Cindy, arrived at Madison Camelview Elementary School a few hours after the polls opened.
He spoke briefly to reporters: "It isn't over until it's over. We're looking forward to moving forward after tonight to the general election and working just as hard as we did in the primary and taking nothing for granted."
McCain observed, "A little warm, but I'm sure we'll have a great turnout."
McCain, in his first election since his failed bid for president in 2008, is being challenged in the Republican primary by former Congressman J.D. Hayworth. McCain emerged as the favorite late in the campaign.
