Arizona State freshman middle linebacker Vontaze Burfict was named the Pac-10 Defensive Freshman of the Year on Monday.
Burfict started nine games for the Sun Devils recording 69 tackles - good enough for second on the team.
Of those 69 tackles 40 of them were solo with seven being tackles for a loss.
The Corona, Calif. product also had two sacks to go along with five pass break ups and two fumbles forced and recovered.
Arizona State's lone first team selection was senior defensive lineman Dexter Davis.
Davis made 23 tackles - six for a loss - and had 3.5 sacks.
Sun Devils among the second team were senior wide receiver Chris McGaha, senior offensive lineman Shawn Lauvao, and senior punt returner Kyle Williams.
Honorable Mention honors went to senior outside linebacker Travis Goethel, sophomore defensive tackle Lawrence Guy, running back senior Dimitri Nance, and senior outside linebacker Mike Nixon.
