PHOENIX - The IRS currently has $3,805,414 worth of money that is owed to Arizona taxpayers, but has not been able to get the money to them because of mailing address errors.
With 3,237 total checks ready to be delivered, IRS Commissioner Doug Shulman said they are anxious to get the money to the taxpayers.
"We are eager to get this money into the hands of taxpayers, so don't delay if you think you are missing a refund," he said. "The sooner you update your address information, the quicker you can get your refund."
Taxpayers need to update their address one time for the IRS to send the checks to the correct place.
Some taxpayers are due more than one check, and the undeliverable checks this year average $1,178 per Arizonan.
