PHOENIX (AP) - Authorities say an Arizona couple has been indicted in the theft of nearly 1,000 pieces of luggage from baggage claim carousels at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.

Maricopa County prosecutors say the 45-count indictment announced Thursday charges 61-year-old Keith King and his 38-year-old wife Stacy Legg King with theft, burglary and trafficking in stolen property.

Phoenix police arrested the couple from Waddell on Nov. 2. They say the couple had been taking luggage from the airport for at least a year.

They also say the Kings' house northwest of Phoenix had stolen luggage and personal belongings piled from floor to ceiling. Many bags were stripped of identifying information.

Last week, Sky Harbor began a new policy of conducting random luggage checks and increased video surveillance and patrols in the baggage claim area.

It really seems odd that no one ever confronted them about their luggage, at the carousel. Maybe they did and it was, " Ah, my mistake here ya go."
  • There are cameras in the baggage/carousel area

but apparently no one ever looks at the film - how could this man enter the airport enough times to steal hundreds, if not thousands of suitcases and have nary a soul connect the dots? The folks working in this area of the airport must be as dim-witted as the guys who put handcuffs on the hysterical, drunken New York woman, locked her in a room and walked away.
