Support Valley low-income children with News-Talk 92.3 KTAR by participating in the Chances for Children 5K & 1-mile Competitive Run & Kids Fun Run on Saturday, May 16, 2009. Chances for Children AZ, which supports over 1,400 kids in various low income schools, will be hosting the FREE Fit Kids 1 Mile Fun Run Finale. This fun run centers around the Tempe International Triathlon, which will be held on May 17; along with the fun run will also be a competitive 5K Run & Walk, as well as a competitive 1-mile timed event.

The 5K gets underway at 8am, the competitive 1-mile race starts at 9am and the Kids Fun Run begins at 9:30am. Competitive 5K & 1-mile participants will receive a free t-shirt and award, while kids participating in the fun run will receive a "finishers" award.

In addition to the three races, the event offers a High School Challenge: the school with the most registrations before 8am on May 16 will take home the High School Challengers Cup! This trophy will rotate from school to school each year. The High School Challenge will benefit the Arizona Junior Triathlon Team, comprised of 8 high school students representing 5 different schools.
