Some want 'suicide lanes' to go

Hundreds of Phoenix residents want the two reversible lanes known by many as "suicide lanes" to go away for good.
Getting caught in the middle lane of traffic on 7th Street or 7th Avenue at the wrong time could be catastrophic.
Kurt Stickler owns Melrose Pharmacy on 7th Avenue with his wife.
"I've seen rollover accidents. I've seen people hit polls, take out planters. It's that 6 o'clock deadline - everybody's riding those times - and you've got all these people who think they have the right away and they don't. It's scary sometimes."
The Sticklers have also lived in the area for 15 years.
Teresa Stickler says she's fed up with cut through traffic in her neighborhood. "It's hard to actually pull out of my driveway in the morning. It's a residential and people are speeding and to me it's just not fair that this lane is causing trouble to us."
Neighbors and business owners in the area seem to agree with the Sticklers.
So far, about 1,000 of them have signed a petition to get rid of the reversible lanes, which she'll present to the city council.
Teresa Stickler is also kicking off a letter writing campaign and planning a rally.
