The 25-year-old daughter of Gilbert's police chief was sentenced Friday to more than six years in prison for aggravated assault and driving under the influence.

Brandi Dorn, of Queen Creek, was sentenced to six years for aggravated assault and four months for DUI. Dorn was also sentenced to four years of probation for the DUI charge and a second aggravated assault charge.

Dorn pleaded guilty in November to driving drunk on Jan. 31, losing control of her car and injuring two people.

"I haven't been sober this long in a very long time," Dorn said as she addressed the victims and their families at her sentencing hearing Friday. "Every day, I've thought of you and what I've done to your life."

"I'm thankful that I'm in custody now," Dorn continued. "I thank God that I'm where I am right now."

Gilbert Police Chief Tim Dorn has said he did not condone his daughter's actions and expected the criminal justice system to hold her accountable. He was not present at Friday's hearing.
