FM News/Talk 92.3 KTAR Adds Beck, Watson to Lineup; McMahon Named Director of Public Affairs
by KTAR Newsroom (September 4th, 2007 @ 1:26pm)
PHOENIX - FM News/Talk 92.3 KTAR is pleased to announce the addition of talk show hosts Glenn Beck and Mac Watson to its afternoon lineup. Beck will host noon to 3 p.m. and Watson will host 3 to 7 p.m. The changes take effect Monday, September 17. In addition, Bonneville announces that legendary host and long-time valley icon Pat McMahon takes on the newly created role of Director of Public Affairs for the Phoenix market. McMahon will continue to be heard on KTAR-FM hosting The McMahon Group, The God Show, daily commentaries, and periodic special reports.
Beck and Watson both deliver strong opinions on the major news stories of the day, while not denigrating those who disagree with their point of view or focusing exclusively on politics. Their shows are similar in style to the one hosted by popular KTAR-FM morning personality Darrell Ankarlo. Watson's show will originate from the KTAR studios in Phoenix. Beck's show is nationally syndicated on more than 260 radio stations. Watson's show will offer afternoon commuters opinionated talk content along with the strong news product KTAR-FM currently delivers with traffic and weather together every ten minutes. KTAR-FM will continue its unmatched commitment to local and national news via Arizona's largest radio news team.
"We are pleased to offer listeners the passionate, opinionated talk content they have asked for in the afternoon, while maintaining the award-winning, breaking news coverage they have depended on from KTAR for years," said Russ Hill, Director of News/Talk and Sports Programming for Bonneville Phoenix.
"I'm thrilled to join the KTAR-FM team. I've known Darrell Ankarlo for years and am excited to follow his program in Phoenix and then hand the audience over to Mac Watson," said Glenn Beck. "This truly is a station offering the next-generation of talk radio on FM."
"KTAR-FM is a legendary station in one of America's fastest-growing and most vibrant cities," said Mac Watson. "I'm privileged to join the talented KTAR team. It's one of America's best-sounding news/talk stations and I'm excited to be a part of making it even stronger."
Watson comes to KTAR-FM from WRVA in Richmond, Virginia where he has hosted the highly-rated afternoon drive program for the last three years. Beck is the host of the third-most listened to radio talk show in the United States and a prime-time television program each night on CNN Headline News.
