PHOENIX - Authorities have released the name of a driver who was killed when his big rig veered off Interstate 10 and crashed into a rest stop residence outside Phoenix.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety says 45-year-old Edward A. French, of Long Beach, Calif., was declared dead at the scene of Wednesday's crash in Tonopah, about 70 miles west of Phoenix.
Authorities still don't know what caused French to lose control of the rig, which plowed through a brick wall and into a house occupied by the caretakers of the Burnt Wells Rest Stop.
Authorities say five residents of the house were in the backyard at the time of the crash.
A 42-year-old woman remained hospitalized Thursday with serious but non life-threatening injuries. The other four people - ranging in age from 12 to 70 - were treated and released Wednesday.
