SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - Two schools in central Scottsdale were locked down Tuesday morning after an armed man barricaded himself in a nearby home.
He was arrested later that afternoon.
Sierra Vista Academy and Coronado High School, both near 75th and Oak Streets, were placed under lockdown as a precaution about 10 a.m.
Police said officers responding to a family fight in the 2200 block of North 74th Place were told that a 60-year-old man pulled a gun after getting into an argument with his wife and 26-year-old son. The wife and son escaped unharmed from the family home.
Officer Dave Pubins said the man had medical problems. He was believed armed with handguns.
