PHOENIX -- Talk show host Darrell Ankarlo returned to the air waves at News/Talk 92-3 KTAR on Wednesday to announce he has recovered from a severe brain injury and will soon return to his show "Ankarlo Mornings."
Ankarlo spoke by telephone with Bruce St. James, one of the fill-in hosts during his absence.
He said he will return Tuesday.
"A lot has passed by since I've been gone, but we plan to cover life when I get back," Ankarlo said Wednesday.
Ankarlo said he suffered "traumatic brain disorder" in a car wreck in Phoenix in April. He said it's the same injury that many soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan have suffered.
Ankarlo said he "literally went to hell and back" through five months of therapy "working with some of the best experts in the medical field to regain some of the abilities I took for granted every day."
"Ankarlo Mornings" airs from 9 a.m. until noon Mondays through Fridays.
