Border Patrol agents found 1,870 pounds of marijuana in a truck abandoned as they chased it on the Tohono O'odham Reservation southwest of Tucson early Friday.

The Border Patrol said the marijuana had an estimated street value of $1.5 million.

Agents assigned to the Ajo Border Patrol Station spotted the truck speeding away early Friday from an area known for narcotics trafficking. They were unable to catch the truck, but found it abandoned a short time later. The driver was missing.

Agents said 107 bundles of marijuana were found in the truck.

In the first four months of this fiscal year, October through January, Tucson Sector agents have seized more than 341,000 pounds of marijuana worth an estimated $272.9 million.
