Action for Autism
"I have twins who are 9 years old and they have high-functioning autism. And I had watched them do really well academically at school, but I was very concerned because I wasn't seeing the same amount of social progress," says Karen Donmoyer.
So, Donmoyer helped launch the Friend Playground Program at Scottsdale's Copper Ridge School in January. She has seen a huge change in her daughters.
"You can't tell that they have autism. They're a part of the group," says Donmeyer.
The program teaches social skills in a small group setting on the playground for about one hour per week. • Playground program helps children make friends (Part 6)
