We really don't see a problem here, but some people do.
When "Elle" put Melissa McCarthy on its cover, people weren't exactly thrilled. Many claimed that McCarthy was put in a large coat to cover her body because she's fat.
But Stacey Brooks, in for Karie Dozer, said it's not about McCarthy's body size. A magazine has a job to make its covers look good and the actress looks great on the cover.
If, for example, "Elle" would opt for Reese Witherspoon on its cover, she would be dressed in something else. The same goes for Jennifer Lawrence, Ellen DeGeneres or any other celebrity. They all have different body types and hence different outfits look better on them.
Rob Hunter said he really didn't notice the cover because men tend to be less observational of things like this. He isn't really in to digging deep on magazine covers. It's just a picture.
What do you think about McCarthy's "Elle" cover?
