Karie & Chuck: Has Phoenix ever been a worse sports town?
![]() |
That's all a lot of people can say for the current state of the Phoenix sports teams.
The Suns seem to be in a state of perennial meltdown, with coaches leaving, supposed blowups with management and a poor season.
The Cardinals have hired a new coach, Bruce Arians, on the tail end of a season that began with hope and ended with misery. Also, the Cards lost a bright spot on the team in former defensive coordinator Ray Horton, who was dismissed hours after Arians was brought in.
The Diamondbacks, favored to make a World Series appearance, finished a mediocre 81-81. After trade rumors swirled for years, the team traded young outfielder Justin Upton, who some thought was the future of the team.
The Coyotes...wait, does anyone care?
The point is that the current outlook for Phoenix sports fans is pretty bleak. We've had some lows over the years, but is this the lowest we've ever sunk?
