Is it time for a stupid hiker law?

Feb 22, 2013, 11:32 PM | Updated: 11:33 pm

When spring arrives in the Valley, fire departments get busy.

Not because there is a sudden peak in fires, but because people visiting the Valley get themselves stuck on trails that were way above their ability.

The rescues have already begun for this year.

Is it time for Arizona to enact a stupid hiker law similar to the state’s Stupid Motorist Law, which requires drivers who get themselves trapped in floodwaters to pay for their rescue?
