Remember those election nights?
Even if you didn’t vote for Obama, wasn’t it easy to get swept up in the history of the moment. In one election and a re-election, this nation, made up of so many colors and political philosophies and causes said twice — “Yes, we can!” — a positive vision for everyone, regardless of party.
“Yes, we can!”
But now, as we approach October 2013, there seems to be a lot of people who, at one time, shouted that passionately, now more quietly asking, “Yes, we can … what?”
What should we be doing about immigration reform and gun control and the disbursement of our military? And when should we start doing it? Are you confused? I am, about so many things.
Now, that could be because the scope of these subjects is so far beyond my grasp or that a leadership wrapped in a cloak of communication skills, has all too often failed to communicate.
The first monumental piece of legislation passed to benefit America was affordable health care. But, as far as I can tell, nobody has explained to me why I should be looking forward to it. Opponents fail to tell me why to oppose it.
Can I honestly say I miss the leadership decisiveness of Clinton and Reagan?
Yes, I can!
