To any of you who are saying “same old Cardinals” after watching Sunday’s season opener in St. Louis, you really ought to try Mountain Dew or something as an alternative beverage to whatever you were drinking.
If you have no idea what I’m talking about because you proudly tell everyone that you never watch sports, I hope “Antiques Roadshow” provides enough thrills to fill your week.
I’m not here to do a game review or comment on the score — other people have already done that. I’m talking about the excitement provided by our hometown team. I said hometown team, the Arizona Cardinals. Not ‘Da Bears. You don’t live in Chicago anymore. No, your team isn’t Green Bay anymore, not since you decided that sunshine was a more desirable companion than a snow shovel.
If you’re really a football fan, then you know the Cardinals made mistakes: fumbles, missed tackles, even failing to protect Carson Palmer from time to time.
But this year the QB likely won’t be ending up in the ICU. Even this early in the season, it seems obvious that new coach Bruce Arians has done something more productive than picking up a Social Security check.
Come on, sure it was disappointing to lose by three, but admit it: wasn’t it exciting?
