Magic with munchies

Now that the triple-digit temperatures are officially here, I’d like to address all who have been blinded by the sun. I make the assumption that it must be some kind of vision impairment that would allow so many world-class whiners to repeat the same old litany: “There’s nothing to do here in the summertime.”
Hey, try this…open your eyes! Look at the paper.
Last week, Taylor Swift sold out two huge arena shows, immediately followed by a jam-packed concert by Fleetwood Mac. Well, there goes 3 days of nothing to do. And many of those same no-brainer complainers perpetuate that meaningless myth that there’s just no culture in Phoenix. Horse puckey!
Besides the Phoenix Symphony, the Arizona Ballet and countless arts venues, there are places to go and things to see everywhere. East coast snobs always gauge success with regular folks by asking, “Will it play in Peoria?”
Well, in Peoria, Arizona — that is — the other night I saw a production of Stephen Sondheim’s “Into the Woods” at the Arizona Broadway Theater. It was professional theater at its best. And they served a gourmet dinner. So now, try again. What do you want to do tonight?
I’m Pat McMahon.
