2010 Sports Year in Review by Jarrett Carlen (to the tune of "American Pie")

Long long time ago,

I can still remember

When Kurt Warner used to me make me smile.

But who knew if he had the chance

He'd go on TV and dance,

And the Cardinals would be crappy for a while.

In January the Tide's Nick Saban

Won the title they've been cravin.

And the Saints used careful planning

To tackle Peyton Manning.

I don't remember if I sighed

When I heard that Mark McGwire lied.

And I laughed while Tiger cried.

This was quite a year

We had all sorts

Of fun in sports.

There was news of all kinds.

Exciting games, some of the best of all time.

That is why I wrote you this rhyme.

Did you bring your winter gloves?

And did you pray to God above

That Vancouver would get some snow?

Did you believe in Lindsay Vonn,

And wonder what Bode Miller's on?

And did you see that flying Tomaaaaatooooo.

Well, I know that they love the Kid,

That national pride rested with Sid.

And they kept scoring goals,

But could the US crush their souls?

A trip to the finals sure was nice,

But the silver would have to suffice.

For 2 weeks we cared about a sport on ice.

The Olympics were great this year.

For 25 years the Cats kept going,

But the streak ended with a dismal showing.

Arizona fans were mighty pissed.

But Butler still made it fun

With an unlikely finals run,

But their half court heave to win barely missed.

And Duke were the champs again.

And UConn were the best women.

And while Tiger dealt with sin,

Phil got the Masters win!

The Suns went on a winning spree,

Stat played like an MVP,

And they got up to #3.

Could this be their year?

Oh Holy Moly, the Suns were rolling.

The Blazers gone, momentum growing.

The time to beat the Spurs had come at laaaaaaaaaaast!

They whooped their butts, that sure was fast.

A sweep to erase the past.

Next to LA and then a championship at last!

Looked like an easy Lakers win,

But then J-Rich banked the 3 ball in.

Suns fans got up to dance

But they never had the chance!

While Kobe's shot was not the best,

What happened next who could've have guessed?

They forgot to box out Ron Artest.

Another painful year.

Oh how could the D-backs show their face?

The team was a huge disgrace.

The bullpen blowing leads again and again.

While Joyce's call sure did sting,

No hitters were a common thing,

And the Beard and Timmy beat Cliff Lee in the end.

And then on Soccer's biggest stage,

I screamed at my TV in rage.

What angel born in hell-a

Invented the vuvuzela?!?

And Isner played into the night,

Pacquaio and Floyd would never fight,

Bush would lose his Heisman right,

It was a crazy year.

I met a girl who sang the blues,

And asked what she thought of Turkoglu?

She just frowned and turned away.

And I went down to that Cleveland court,

Where Id seen the King play years before,

But Lebron said South Beach's where I wanna play.

And Vick could be the MVP,

Rex Ryan has a thing with feet,

The Boys and Vikes were choking,

The Metrodome is broken.

And the team that I most like to see

Picked three losers for QB.

Playoffs are just a memory.
