Sandra Haros

Sandra has been in the Valley since 1997, after moving to Tempe to attend Arizona State University (go Sun Devils!!!!) She graduated from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism with a degree in Broadcasting and Business.

She's been a KTAR employee for two years and has loved every minute of it. Her responsibility is to gather and report the news. She loves reporting on breaking news, but also enjoys writing stories that make a difference in people's lives. She's written about tough issues that often go unreported, like domestic violence, teen dating violence, drug abuse, rape and autism, to name a few.

One of Sandra's favorite news memories is being blessed with the opportunity of meeting a set of conjoined twins, Emma and Taylor. The entire family was an inspiration and a reminder of how faith can give you the strength to overcome any obstacle. Sandra loves her job, enjoys the people who work there and appreciates KTAR listeners. "They're a special group of passionate, intelligent people," she said.

Sandra grew up in Yuma, Arizona and is first-generation American. Her parents immigrated to the U.S. from Mexico and are now proud United States citizens. "They taught me that hard work pays off; nothing is ever handed to you," she said." That's why she started her first job at 16. She was a darned good hostess at JB's restaurant.

If you know Sandra, you know that she has many favorite foods. First and foremost, her mom's Gallina Pinta - a traditional Mexican dish consisting of hominy, pinto beans, and beef. Sandra loves a good steak with a side of asparagus or ribs. To top it off, chocolate strawberries. She'd probably want to eat her favorite foods at her favorite Arizona spot… Yuma, Arizona (there's no place like home!) and watching her favorite sports team, the Arizona Diamondbacks.
