First Job
Overnight announcer at a Southern California “Good Music” station. All I had to say
was “That was . . .” This is, . . .” and “From the mountains, to the sea, to all of Southern
California: this is KDUO-FM.” I can say it in my sleep . . . and did.
First Concert
My grandfather conducted symphony orchestras, and when I was about 7 he took me to the Redlands Bowl for a summer evening of classical music. But what I really remember was being backstage with The Iron Butterfly in the 60’s, in a television studio with Jerry Garcia and The Grateful Dead; and meeting Vladimir Horowitz at Gammage.
Favorite Sports Team
The D-backs. No question. A beer, a hot dog, and a mitt, just in case. What else is there?!
