CLICK CHICK'S DAILY PICKS*
I'm Gayle Bass, the Click Chick, and this is my daily blog of what's weird, wacky and wild on the good old world wide Web. Is there a Web site you can't live without visiting everyday? New on DVD: Tuesdays are typically DVD
release days, but yesterday - those pesky Oscar
nominations got in the way. So, here's my DVD
recommendation list. First, Rise of the Planet of
the Apes with James Franco. I promise his
performance better than the one he gave as the host of
last year's Oscar ceremonies. Hugh Jackman bonds with his
son and gets a robot he picked up in a junk yard in
fighting shape for the ring in Reel
Steel. You can't go wrong with
50/50 starring the always solid Joseph
Gordon-Levitt as a 20something given a 50/50 chance to
live after a cancer diagnosis. It's a dramedy. Seth Rogen
plays his best friend and provides a measured amount of
comic relief. And last, but not least, Drive with Ryan
Gosling. He's a professional getaway driver that gets
emotionally connected to a neighbor. Look for a bravura
performance from Albert Brooks.
Oscar Snub: It's the day after the Oscar
nominations and people are already talking about Oscar
snubs. Albert Brooks had a couple of funny
tweets after the nominations came out and he
wasn't on the list. He tweeted "I got ROBBED. I don't mean
the Oscars, I mean literally. My pants and shoes have been
stolen." Shortly after that he channeled his inner Sally
Field. "And to the Academy: "You don't like me. You really
don't like me," Brooks added.
Broke Athlete: Terrell Owens earned $80M
over his football career - and now he's nearly broke. In
an article in GQ, he explains it
wasn't expensive cars, expensive house and lavish spending
that did him in. He says it was trusting the wrong people
with his money. However, if you're paying close to $45K a
month in child support for a total of 4 kids with four
women. You're going to go broke.
The New Old Star Wars: Couple of years
ago, I told you about a guy that wanted Star Wars fans to
remake the original Star Wars movie in a fan film, 15
seconds at a time. that means a whole bunch of people shot
a 15 second portion of the movie. It's now done and on
YouTube - all 2 hours, 3 minutes of the Star Wars Uncut: Director's
Cut. When you see the special effects, expect
to laugh. I'm pretty sure some of them are made with
cardboard. One C3PO costume is made up of a mask and
yellow doctor's scrubs. and I'm pretty sure I spotted Buzz
Lightyear and some Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles who
appeared to have joined the Rebellion to defend Princess
Leia.
