Ash: Will we give Max a Hall pass?
by Mark Asher (October 4th, 2010 @ 12:30pm)
I can't believe how off I was during my preseason prediction on Derek Anderson. I said he would be replaced by Max Hall in Week 6 or 7 after the bye week.
Oops!
I actually didn't think there was a chance that Derek Anderson would be this bad! I knew he wasn't a good quarterback but sometimes you feel like the talent around him will make him look better. In this instance it made him look worse. The Cardinal fans have come to expect a certain level of play of their team and definitely out of their QB. That is why DA has failed so miserably in his quest to replace that one guy from "Dancing with the Stars."
To be fair to both DA and Hall. The offensive line is awful. Shaun Phillips should send a thank you card to the entire Cards O-line for probably putting him in the Pro Bowl in just one game. Nine sacks in one game is a joke and just think what New Orleans, who loves to blitz, will do to the Cardinals this Sunday. It could get ugly around here real fast and that is why I never understood why Coach Whiz made the decision to cut Matt Leinart. If Leinart stayed and failed it would be easy to just pin the failures on him and move on, but now the failures won't just be put on Anderson. Whiz will get a lot of the blame because who isn't sitting here right now wondering what Leinart would be doing for us?
I know I am! Speaking of Leinart, you know he has to be smiling just a bit from the bench in Houston, right?
The real question I have is what if?
What if Max Hall isn't the savior? What if there was a reason he didn't get drafted? Are we about to find out?
Yes, Hall looked great against the third stringers in the exhibition games, but now he will be facing the defending Super Bowl champs if Whiz does what we think he will and makes him the starter for Sunday.
Then what? Bring in John Skelton?
These are the questions as a Cardinals fan that I have. I am nervous for this team this year as I just see this being an ongoing problem that might never get fixed.
It's too bad since this division should be won by the Cardinals this season with relative ease as the SF 0-9ers are falling apart, Seattle isn't that good and St. Louis...well maybe the Rams are the best team in the division? Did I just write that? I must have a concussion from watching all the sacks the Cardinals gave up yesterday.
