PHOENIX - Goodyear City Manager John Fischbach has submitted his resignation.

The City Council voted unanimously Monday night to accept his resignation, which will be effective April 1.

Fischbach has been city manager since April 2008.

The Arizona Republic says Fischbach didn't give a reason for his sudden resignation, but says he plans to continue living in Goodyear.

During Fischbach's tenure, he oversaw the recruitment of several large employers to the city, including Suntech Power Holdings and Sub-Zero Inc., and the completion of Goodyear Ballpark.

Deputy City Manager Brian Dalke will be acting city manager until the Goodyear City Council determines next week who will fill the position in the interim.
