Valley man pushing for Doritos boycott due to ad

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - Nohl Rosen is a cat lover.
"They're intelligent, they're beautiful, they're independent," said Rosen. "They love us, I believe, unconditionally."
That's why he's calling for a boycott of Doritos because of a commercial that first aired on Super Bowl Sunday. It shows the picture of a missing cat, and a dog burying a cat collar. When a man sees him, the dog bribes the man with a bag of Doritos to keep his mouth shut.
"It was horrifying," said Rosen. "It was horrifying to watch it. I'm rather disgusted that a commercial would advocate or even simulate that a cat would be killed."
Rosen said that he believes the commercial promotes animal abuse and that it should not be allowed.
"It's the message that the commercial puts out that we're most upset about," said Rosen. "What if the commercial involved a human child that was being buried in the dirt and someone was being bribed with a bag of Doritos to look the other way? There would be plenty of people that would be up in arms about it. But, because it's a cat...a lot of people who laughed at the commercial have become desensitized to the issue of animal cruelty. It's not funny when someone loses a cat to a dog attack."
Rosen wants the commercial off the air. He has started an online petition that demands an apology from Frito-Lay, which makes Doritos, and its parent company PepsiCo. Rosen said over 18,00 people have already signed the petition.
He said the Doritos boycott is a tough thing for him to do.
"I like Doritos," said Rosen. "But now I'm giving them up. We're fighting for what we feel is right in our heart."
