Driver who made U-turn killed on Mesa freeway

MESA, Ariz. -- A man has been killed after authorities say he made a U-turn on U.S. 60 in Mesa. The Department of Public Safety says the male driver collided with a big rig and a car about 2 a.m. Friday near Lindsay Road.

The DPS says the man was heading east on U.S. 60 when for some unknown reason he made a U-turn.

A semitrailer that was following behind him clipped his vehicle. The man's car then collided head-on with another vehicle.

The driver of the other car suffered minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital. The truck driver was not injured.
