What’s it like to be a female sports writer?

If your daughter told you when she was a little girl that she wanted to be a writer, you would probably proudly say that that is an excellent career for a creative young woman.
And then she adds that she wants to write for the newspaper. Your reaction would no doubt be equally positive.
That is, until she informs you that she wants to grow up to be a sports writer.
There was a time in the news business that that would have been impossible, but now, the door has been opened. Not wide open, mind you, but open enough for Paola Boivin to walk through and make a career at The Arizona Republic.
