In the wee morning hours on Monday, an earthquake hit Los Angeles, and it caught two morning news anchors by surprise.
The earthquake registered a 4.4 in magnitude, and it originated only six miles north of Beverly Hills at approximately 6:25 a.m.
Los Angeles’ KTLA-TV is headquartered in Hollywood, and in the middle of the broadcast, anchors Chris Schauble and Megan Henderson felt the quaking and immediately took cover under the desk.
They have since been made fun of for their “cowardly dive,” but one seismologist defended Schauble and Henderson, saying others should follow their example, reported KTLA.
“I was very proud to see the KTLA anchors going under their desk during the earthquake, that was absolutely the right thing to do,” said Dr. Lucy Jones, a seismologist with the U.S. Geological Survey.
