Last December, everything changed for the Parker family.
Their eldest daughter, Emilie, was killed in the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn. She was in first-grade.
Emilie's mother, Alissa, explains in the video how hard it was to deal with her daughter's death. For a while, she became convinced that evil had triumphed over good.
Then people began offering support -- letters, gifts, prayers. The Parkers used that positive energy to not only move past Emilie's death, but to create great things out of a tragic situation.
In Alissa's words, "Evil did not win" after all.
