Video shows how fast floods move in the desert
PHOENIX - It's that time of the year when monsoon season storms hit the area and while it might feel safe here in the Valley, the same thing can't be said for those living outside of areas that are protected from the severe damage that a flash flood can cause.
A video posted on YouTube shows the extent at which a flash flood can travel hours after the rain has stopped pouring in, and what sort of debris that flash flood can bring with it.
A flash flood can knock down trees, cut electricity to many homes, damage your property and bring wild animals such as snakes, scorpions and even frogs down the stream. As the video shows, even under clear skies a storm that hit more than 40 miles away can still reach you, so it's never a bad idea tuning in to your local weather forecast in case of severe storms.
