After eight years of cat videos and people embarrassing themselves in odd accidents, YouTube is shutting down.

Blame parent company Google. Or consider the fact that it is April Fools' Day.

ABC News pointed out that Google and YouTube have enjoyed pulling pranks before.

Plenty of users fell for it.

Here is the video announcing the demise of the popular online video supplier.
