Former Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords is the new face of a nonprofit group's gun control campaign.

Americans for Responsible Solutions calls for universal background checks in its first video ad.

In the ad Giffords asks Congress to act.

"Let's get this done," she said.

When that's all you have to rely on some people will just go with what they think they know.

    Background checks wo't work
I am a CCW holder because i am a law abiding person and want to be able to legally carry a firearm in as many places as possible. Criminals don't follow laws. If there were universal background checks for all gun sales including private sales only law abiding people like me would do them. All a gang banger would have to do is send their new recruits that don't have a criminal record "yet" to buy their guns for them or you could just break in to a few homes till ya find one. Private sellers that are too lazy to go with there buyer to get a background check would be a source too.

There is no way to enforce background checks because most guns in America are not registered so who would know if a private gun was to change hands? Don't try and sell me on "we need to register all guns" because that would be unconstitutional and the "DFR" (dept. of firearms registration) would be bigger than the DMV due to there being more guns than cars in the USA.

    3 good reasons against...
...universal background checks. 1. FBI will not respond regarding keeping records of background checks resulting in an illegal gun registry. 2. Refuses to correct errors in system preventing sales to legitimate buyers. 3. Would give the government complete control over all gun sales. If the system goes down, as it does already for hours or days at a time, whether done intentionally or not, it would prevent any legal gun sales. Thus banning the legal sale of any firearms until, when or if the system comes back up. No thanks.

    From the Congressional Reseach Service.
"11/14/2012. Total Denials (meaning guns denied to prohibited possessors by background checks)-1,613,953 comprised of: FBI Denials, State Denials, Local Denials. Reasons for Denial-Felony indictment/conviction, State law prohibition, Domestic violence, Misdemeanor conviction, Restraining order, Fugitive, Illegal alien, Mental illness or disability, Drug user/addict, Local law prohibition, Other prohibitions." Gun nuts think that it was wrong to deny these 1.6 million prohibited possessors access to the guns that they wanted for future crimes. I am not making this up.
