Unfortunately, beer runs are so common they rarely make the news.
Except for this one at 23rd Avenue and Bethany Home.
It happened on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at about 1:00 a.m. A man and woman entered the Circle K and each grabbed two 12-packs of beer.
Phoenix Police Sgt. Darren Burch said one security guard tried to block the door while the other grabbed a can of pepper spray,
“And at that time, the male suspect turned this beer run into an armed robbery. He pulled a gun and pointed it at the guards, threatening to shoot them if they didn’t get out of the way.”
The man and woman fled the store without the beer and got into a red Ford Taurus.
Our next case takes us to 18th Street and Adams in Phoenix where a father and son lost their lives in what appears to be a case of mistaken identity. This murder happened on Friday, March 8, 2013 at about 2:30 a.m.
“Two suspects went to the home looking for drugs. This was the wrong place; mistaken identity,” said Burch. “This was a good family. There were no drugs in that home but the suspects came in with that belief and ended up shooting the father and the son.”
Other family members in the home weren’t hurt. Burch said investigators are working hard but so far don’t have many leads.
