The U.S. military uses Britney Spears' music to deter Somali pirates.

Navy officer Rachel Owens recently revealed to Metro the military uses the Grammy-winning pop star's music to scare off pirates along the African coast.

"Her songs were chosen by the security team because they thought the pirates would hate them most," Owens said.

Don't take offense, Brit. It's not you, it's them.

"These guys can't stand Western culture or music, making Britney's hits perfect," she said.

Owens said "Oops!... I Did It Again" and "Baby One More Time" are most effective. Let's not forget "You Drive Me Crazy" -- heck, it's in the title.

Somali pirate attacks are common off the shores of Africa. In 2011, there were 176 reported attacks on ships. The Royal Navy patrols the waters daily with 1,500 sailors on 14 warships.

The vessels are equipped with large speakers -- probably similar to those from "Back to the Future" -- that blast away the rebels. Owens said the pirates quickly disperse once hearing the "Toxic" singer's voice.

The great thing about this tactic: There are no cannons fired, and the U.S. will never run out of weaponry -- as long as Rebecca Black, Justin Bieber and the girl who sang about Chinese food continue making music.
