Country music super star Jason Aldean was on board his tour bus Sunday evening when it struck and killed a pedestrian in Knox Country, Ind., reports ABC News.

The incident occurred at round 1:30 a.m. when Albert Kennedy walked into the middle of the northbound lane of U.S. 41 highway, police confirmed in a statement.

The coroner pronounced Kennedy dead on the scene from "trauma to the head and chest."

Aldean, 36, reacted to the tragic event via Twitter on Monday.

"With a heavy heart, I'm sad to say that a man passed away last night after stepping out in front of my bus in Indiana," he wrote. The singer said he is praying for Kennedy's family and friends and asked his Twitter followers to do the same.

Police are investigating the accident.
