The Robertson family is taking a stand against A&E for suspending star Phil Robertson from the reality TV show after GQ recently published his controversial interview.

The Louisiana family released a statement on Friday questioning whether to cut ties with A&E if Phil isn't involved with the show, reports TMZ.

"As a family, we cannot imagine the show going forward without our patriarch at the helm," the statement reads. "We are in discussions with A&E to see what that means for the future of 'Duck Dynasty.'"

The statement continues by defending Phil's right to express his beliefs on homosexuality, which the family says are based on religion.

According to the gossip website, "Duck Dynasty" is the highest-rated reality show to ever air on cable TV. It could be a big blow to the network if the family decides to part ways.

Read the Robertson's complete statement below:

Phil would never incite or encourage hate. We are disappointed that Phil has been placed on hiatus for expressing his faith, which is his constitutionally protected right. We have had a successful working relationship with A&E but, as a family, we cannot imagine the show going forward without our patriarch at the helm. We are in discussions with A&E to see what that means for the future of Duck Dynasty. Again, thank you for your continued support of our family.
