Less than a week after NBC aired the live version of "The Sound of Music," the network is already moving forward with another musical.

Robert Greenblatt, the chairman of NBC Entertainment, recently told the New York Times that a live performance is in the works for the 2014 holiday season.

"All weekend, people have been calling us and emailing us," he said. "Rights holders of musicals have said, ‘Please do one of our shows.' We're excited to try it again."

This came as little surprise, being that over 18 million people tuned in on Dec. 5 for the "Sound of Music Live!" premiere.

But after the show aired, it wasn't ratings that got everyone talking, it was Carrie Underwood, who played the starring role.

While media outlets praised Underwood's vocal talent, many said her acting chops needed work. Greenblatt went on to defend NBC's decision to cast the 30-year-old singer.

"She really delivered her audience, her fan base," he said. "I'm not sure almost 20 million people would have come out for a lot of other names."

NBC hasn't released any further details of the upcoming live music.
