Ron Burgundy had a rough time during his ESPN "Sportscenter" audition in 2012. The "Anchorman" character was nothing short of a clueless mess.
While network execs seemingly spent the past year thinking it through, they're reportedly ready to give Burgundy a shot.
According to TheWrap, Ferrell will co-host "Sportscenter" during the Dec. 5 episode that airs at 6 p.m. The website said the actor will likely remain in his "Anchorman" character.
The hosting gig comes two weeks before the release of Ferrell's upcoming sequel, "Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues," which arrives in theaters on Dec. 20.
Ferrell is the third celebrity guest to co-host the show in the past five weeks. He joins the ranks of actor Ken Jeong ("The Hangover") and NASCAR driver Jimmie Johnson.
