Vince Gilligan is known for his work as the creator and executive producer of the popular AMC series "Breaking Bad," but he's about to try his hand at acting as well.

Entertainment Weekly reports Gilligan will guest star on an episode of the NBC comedy "Community," which will be entering its fifth season.

Gilligan will make his acting debut by playing a smooth-talking gold digger who winds up exacerbating a fight between Annie (Alison Brie) and Abed (Danny Pudi). The episode, which is being filmed this week, will likely air in late winter or early spring.

The even better news out of this is that "Community," which will be bolstered by the return of writer and creator Dan Harmon, has a concrete return date -- Jan. 2, 2014.

Entertainment Weekly also says another "Breaking Bad" star, Jonathan Banks, who played Mike Ehrmantraut in the AMC show, will also appear in several episodes of "Community" in Season 5 as a criminology professor.

Gilligan is also currently working on producing a "Bad" spinoff titled "Better Call Saul," staring Bob Odenkirk.
