The Robertson family of "Duck Dynasty" became a household name shortly after the hit A&E show debuted in 2012.

But for Si Robertson, life wasn't always about long beards and duck call fortune.

Uncle Si reveals chilling details of alcoholism, mental illness and suicide in his new book, "Si-cology: Tales and Wisdom from Duck Dynasty's Favorite Uncle."

According to Radar Online, Si battled with alcohol abuse in his early adulthood, particularly while serving in Vietnam.

"Although I was there for only one year, it was a really difficult time in my life," he admits. But quickly, he found solace in alcohol.

The book also reveals a horrifying story of Si's son Scott, whose brain damage caused him to be suicidal at a young age.

"Scott was suicidal from the time he was about five years old. His behavior was really erratic as a child. When Scott would get tired, he would throw his arms out and fall backward."

Uncle Si's book is out now and available on Amazon.
