'The Simpsons' to kill off another character

An eighth character is slated to die on 'The Simpsons' next year. Executive Producer Al Jean hinted that the actor who voiced the character has won an Emmy for it. (AP Photo)

Frequent viewers of 'The Simpsons' know that Springfield is no stranger to death.

Seven characters have lost their lives at the hand of 'The Simpsons' writers, including Ned Flanders's wife Maude in the 11th season and Amber, Homer's Las Vegas wife, who died in season 16.

But according to The Hollywood Reporter, executive producer Al Jean dropped a hint about an upcoming death that could ultimately affect the entire show: The actor who voiced the character won an Emmy for doing so.

Could it simply be the character voiced by a guest star like Anne Hathaway, who won an Emmy in 2010 for Penelope? Or could it be a character of one of the main actors, like Dan Castellaneta or Kelsey Grammer or Hank Azaria?

While Jean said the story arc of the unnamed character will be produced this year, viewers probably will not see it until mid-to late-2014.
