Actor Paul Walker, 40, was killed Saturday afternoon in a single-car accident and subsequent explosion near Santa Clarita, Calif. TMZ.com was the first to report the news.
Walker, who began acting as early as 1986, is well known for his recurring role in the Fast & Furious series, which just put out its sixth installment in 2013.
The California native won a 2001 Hollywood Breakthrough Award for Best Breakthrough Male Performance, and has also taken home an MTV Movie Award (2002) and Teen Choice Award (2003).
TMZ.com is also reporting that another person was in the car at the time of the crash. Local officials are currently at the scene.
At 8:15 p.m. MST, TMZ's report was confirmed by Walker's Facebook account.
