It's hard to believe the tragic events that took place at the Boston Marathon occurred less than three months ago. But for two screenwriters, three months isn't too soon to turn the tragedy into a blockbuster film.

According to Deadline, screenwriters Eric Johnson and Paul Tamasy have acquired the movie rights to the forthcoming novel, "Boston Strong."

The screenwriting duo is best known for their Oscar nominated work on 2010's "The Fighter."

An official release date for the film has not been reported, but movie goers may have a long wait. The novel isn't expected to hit bookshelves until next year.

Three people were killed and more than 260 injured in twin explosions near the finish line of the marathon.
