Christopher McDonald, the actor who played Shooter McGavin in "Happy Gilmore," was popped for DWI in Wilmington, N.C. on Wednesday, reports Star News Online.

North Carolina Highway Patrol pulled over McDonald, 58, at around 1:45 a.m. Wednesday.

The officer issued a breathalyzer test, which determined the actor's blood-alcohol level was 0.15 -- nearly double the North Carolina legal limit.

According to TMZ, patrons of the Lagerheads Tavern, where McDonald was last seen before the arrest, said he was so intoxicated he could hardly speak.

McDonald was booked in New Hanover County Jail and released at 7:20 a.m. on $1,000 bond. He will appear in court on Dec. 11.

McDonald is in Wilmington filming his upcoming movie "The Squeeze."
