The British Columbia coroner confirms "Glee" actor Cory Monteith died from a combination of heroin and alcohol.

The BC coroner's office says in a statement Tuesday that "there is no evidence to suggest Mr. Monteith's death was anything other than a most tragic accident."

The 31-year-old Monteith, who played the character Finn Hudson on the TV series "Glee," was found dead in his room on the 21st floor of the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel on Vancouver's waterfront at about noon Saturday.

According to police, Monteith was out with friends earlier in the evening, but hotel surveillance confirmed he had returned alone.

The actor had a long struggle with substance abuse. He checked into a treatment facility voluntarily in March. He also underwent a stint in rehab at age 19.
