MEXICO CITY (AP) - Authorities in the Mexican state of Jalisco say tests have revealed that a girl who gave birth two weeks ago is between 12 and 13 years of age, not 9 as the parents had claimed.

Jalisco state prosecutors also say the girl was impregnated by her stepfather and not her alleged 17-year-old boyfriend.

Authorities announced last week that a 9-year-old had given birth to a baby girl and that they were looking for her boyfriend.

But prosecutors said Wednesday that DNA tests revealed the baby's father is the girl's 44-year-old stepfather and that he is under arrest.

They said an anthropological study of the girl showed she is between 12 and 13. The girls' parents didn't have a birth certificate for her and initially told authorities she was 9.

    ...and the people that normally post around here want to suggest or imply that all Hispanics are prone to this? You folks are sick, full of vile and simply bigots. These crimes happen in all countries. As a matter of a fact, our sad-excuse-for-a-Sheriff ignores these victims and pseudo-covers up for rapists and pedophiles (remember the 400 sex crimes against children). Wise up folks...you need it. A little decency please!!!

    tremendous amount of bigots, racists and idiots who post on this site, (just look for the ones who generalize liberals) Look, you "can't fix stupid" so they are out of the question BUT have you ever stopped to think why some people are so desensitized about stories like these? Generalizations...Eliminate the generalizations and maybe the ones who can be helped will begin seeing things differently. Just a thought
